Something I'm soooooo glad that I've learned and fully embraced is that rest is at the core of my health. Keeping my mind right, avoiding burnout, having strong relationships, being able to show up for life always starts for me with rest!

So stay-cations are a way for me to rest and to explore.

How to Identify Levels of Distress

Did you know that there are levels of distress? 

As survivors of trauma, we often end up thinking in very black and white terms … and this can then cause us to categorize any distress we are feeling as super problematic. By growing your awareness about the different levels of distress, you will be better able to regulate your nervous system and maintain perspective as you are navigating the day to day. I share with you a fabulous exercise to help you do just that!

Are you ready to get off the emotional roller coaster?

It may seem counterintuitive - but one way to expand your capacity for emotional and nervous system regulation is to actually intentionally go into states of dysregulation (like ya gotta hop on the ride in order to learn how to navigate getting off!). 

Now it's important that you do this with support and using very specific strategies - two of which I talk about here --- pendulation and titration!

What happens when you tell your raw story?

One of the things I often tell my clients is that your story is a layered and beautiful thing. It is yours to tell, when and how you want to tell it. It can grow and expand, contract, ignite, become dormant, evolve, and even surprise you at times.

Girl from the Hood Gone Good discusses the trials and tribulations Sanchez underwent throughout most of her life. It shares many of the tools and resources she acquired along the way as she sought and fought for the answers and key out of her chaotic situation. Her life was filled with childhood molestation, domestic violence, drinking, drugs and an overall lifestyle fueled by doses of daily insanity. She managed to persevere by going to school, attaining a higher education all the way up to her Masters Degree and receiving extended credits even after she graduated. She turned to self help books, healers, counselors, psychotherapists and shamans to release the mindset that had bound her for decades. In this book, she guides the reader into understanding how they can begin this journey of self discovery and healing from a pain filled past into a joy filled tomorrow.

I am excited to announce that Donna Jenson will be returning this year to lead her"Honoring and Using Our Voices" workshop.

Donna founded Time To Tell™ in 2009 with a mission to spark stories from lives affected by incest and sexual abuse to be told and heard. It is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. She wrote and performs her one-woman play, What She Knows: One Woman’s Way Through Incest to Joy, which is based on her own experience of surviving incest and what she did to make her life worth living.
